THE OPPORTUNITY
We are in the process of recruiting a FP&A manager. Reporting to the VP, Finance, the FP&A manager oversees and manages the Equality Fund’s (EF) day to day financial planning and budgeting function, including any financial modeling needed by the organization and provides the VP, Finance with financial support to inform decisions. In collaboration with the VP, Finance, the FP&A Manager plays a leadership role with financial management, reporting, procurement, budgeting and cash flow management.
SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly reviews program/unit budgets, compares actual to targets with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
Provides the VP, Finance with reports and materials for Finance and Audit committee meetings and EF Board of directors meetings as required
Updates EF’s various financial models and prepares draft budgets for any bi-laterals
Tracks multi year rolling budget to ensure compliance with ratios outlined in the terms and conditions of the contribution agreement
In collaboration with the Director of Strategy, Innovation and Impact, develops reporting on various financial targets, ratios and KPI’s associated with the GAC contribution agreement
Assists the VP, Finance and the CFO with financial functions in support of the oversight role of consortium partners (ie. quarterly and annual allocation requests/reconciliation, annual compliance certificate process, etc.)
The FP&A Manager is a collaborative member of the finance team and supports the VP, Finance and the CFO by providing financial and budget input on various matters
Leverages strengths of the current finance team members, helps to clarify roles and responsibilities and develops and implements professional development opportunities in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
In partnership with the VP, Finance, supports annual budget planning process for organizational budget
Acts as a trusted and respected colleague, providing financial counsel and support to managers and staff as requested; works closely with the Human Resources (HR) team on interdependent HR/Finance functions such as compensation budget and benefit administration
Performs other duties as assigned by the VP, Finance and CFO
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Undergraduate Business or Finance Degree with a minimum six to eight years of progressive work experience in a similar role
Advanced proficiency with accounting softwares, spreadsheet programs/applications and G-Suite
Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed and complex organization
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Sound strategic and analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills; results oriented
Flexible and adaptive, able to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour
Demonstrated experience building teams and managing change; ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment is essential; ability to juggle multiple priorities, navigate changing realities and work effectively with a range of styles and approaches
Demonstrated integrity, diplomacy, confidentiality and work ethic
Commitment to the work and values of the Equality Fund, in particular the values of gender equality and shifting traditional power systems
Commitment to anti-racist/ anti-oppressive practice
Bilingual French/ English considered an asset
