Erb & Good Family Funeral Home Looking for Receptionist at Waterloo, ON Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The basic function of the Receptionist is to welcome families and their guests on behalf of the funeral home both in person and on the telephone. This position is ideal for someone who is exiting the full time workforce and would like to work a part time schedule that is flexible. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcomes and responds to all visitors entering the funeral home as well as answering phones
• Communicates with all guests in a manner that is personal, compassionate and sensitive
• Communicates all questions/issues/concerns to a funeral director/manager/owner
• Has a working knowledge of PC based computers with email and will be trained to use basic proprietary software.
• Directs families and guests to the appropriate offices/visitation rooms, etc., in a personal manner
• Works effectively and efficiently as an integral part of the funeral service team
• Answers the telephone in a personal, professional manner
• Completes the necessary administration activities and documentation such as charitable donations and ordering supplies as requested
• Welcomes all client families and after guiding them to an Arrangement Office, ensures they are offered/served coffee, tea, water and snacks
• Dresses professionally as per company policy on dress and grooming
• Performs other duties as required and directed by funeral directors/managers/owners

EDUCATION

• Minimum grade 12 graduate preferred

EXPERIENCE

• previous experience in a receptionist or customer service position with an emphasis on client communication and care is an asset but not a necessity. Training will be provided.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide all pertinent funeral information
• Strong data entry skills
• Ability to emphasize and demonstrate care, compassion, sensitivity and maturity and have a genuine desire to serve and be a part of dedicated team serving the needs of others.
• Ability to learn, adapt and positively interact with family, clergy and team members
• Ability to prioritize tasks based on changing family needs and timelines

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-40 per week

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
