The Role:
This position is responsible for coordinating production workflow and schedules, planning and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum delay, and ensure that all company goals are achieved and deadlines are met.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing and production processes is required to support the existing business and to develop new business. The position requires time management skills and the ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
Position Responsibilities
Coordinate and plan all production workflow for all products.
Ensure the steel required to produce tubing is available, based on suppliers’ lead time.
Initiate the process of ordering required steel and follow through to completion.
Collaborate with quality control, production, warehouse, and other staff.
Work with various departments to determine manpower, equipment and raw materials are available to meet production demand.
Quote product enquiry lead time based on available to roll (ATR’s) schedule and steel availability.
Initiate the process of setup slitting orders for the upcoming rolling’s, ensuring that the steel is received by the production mills ahead of the start of the rolling.
Review inquiries of new products submitted by I.S.R.’s and make sure they are answered with input from Quality Assurance and Production
Generate reports to communicate to the organization the production capacity available on each of the mills.
Prepare the weekly production plan for each of the mills and communicate to other areas of the organization.
Make recommendations as to how to improve any aspect of the business.
Communicate intention of deviations on steel where it may apply.
Coordinate with the Slitting department to ensure that the steel is received by the production mills ahead of the start of the rolling.
Perform other duties as required.
Job Requirements, Qualifications & Experience:
MANDATORY STEEL TUBING EXPERIENCE
5+ Years of Manufacturing planning experience is mandatory.
Proven knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and quality control principles
Effective communicator, both written and verbal
Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
Outlook and Internet
BPCS, AS400 or similar mainframe experience preferred
High degree of professionalism and integrity
High school diploma: Further education or certification is preferred.
Knowledge of raw materials
Knowledge of the steel tubing industry and its application is preferred.
APICS Certification is an asset.
