Our current opening is for a qualified Logistics Coordinator.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments from beginning to end. You will work directly with customers and various transportation suppliers. Our core business is in the event industry that requires extreme attention to detail, strong organization skills, clear communications, and adhering to critical deadlines. The position is remote only, you will work from your home office, and keep in regular communication with the management team.
Job Responsibility:
– Plan and execute LTL / FTL / Air cargo shipments, preparing all necessary transport documents.
– Communicate regularly with customers for pre-planning shipments and updating status of active shipments.
– Communicate regularly with suppliers to plan and track shipments.
– Respond to emails in a timely and professional manner.
– Provide advice, solutions, and quotes to clients as required.
– Billing and entering all costs into operations system.
– Prioritize work according to urgency and importance.
– Potential weekend and after-hours work depending on event requirements.
Qualifications:
– 5 years experience in the freight forwarding industry, preferably with ground or air modes of transport.
– Knowledge of Canada and USA customs clearance procedures.
– CIFFA or other logistics education would be considered an asset.
– Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal)
– Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
– Dynamic and proactive skills, able to foresee potential problems before they arise.
– Highly organized, able to work within a system and keep track of many active files.
– Able to multitask and work with urgency.
– Previous experience with critical logistics would be a bonus an asset.
