The purpose of the Shaftperson role is to be a productive member of the shaft and hoisting crew at the Red Lake Operation.
Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off – 12-hour shifts
Local/Residential Role – No camp/ No FIFO

About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.
About the role
The Shaftperson role offers an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate competence to performe skills required as a Shaftperson.
Key Result Areas in this role include:
Use torches, conveyor, skip, secondary blasting, shaft procedures, emergency fire & injury procedures, slinging and rigging
Perform daily tasks as per pre-start line up of required daily priorities
Participate and attend all required training and development activities required for Shaftperson work
Follow all legislation and site procedures while operating hoists and skips
Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
About you
As a Shaftperson, you will have a Grade 12 Secondary School diploma. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
Solid understanding of lifting mechanisms, forklift, rock breaker, crane, cage, central blast system, and fall arrest
Comprehensive knowledge on use of torches, conveyor, skip, secondary blasting, shaft procedures, emergency fire & injury procedures, slinging and rigging
Good physical fitness with the ability to work in an underground environment
Hard working and conscientious
Punctual and dependable, with good attendance and safety record
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and interact with others
Willing and able to follow instructions
Willing to work on a rotational shiftwork basis
