We are currently looking for a Transportation Coordinator/Expeditor. This role will plan, organize and direct transportation and logistics operations locally and internationally. Responsibilities are inclusive of overseeing and identifying opportunities for improvement in applicable services, systems, coordinating daily operations, and production schedules for vendors.
Accountabilities
· Plan, develop, organize, direct, and evaluate the operations of the transportation function
· Direct activities in relation to transportation operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles and modes
· Work with international carriers and freight forwarders to streamline the flow of goods across international borders and through customs
· Adhere to and communicate transportation policies and regulatory compliance procedures
· Monitor operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and/or government regulations
· Conduct investigations to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures
· Conduct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
· Remain current with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
· Maintain open dialogue with other department managers to coordinate activities to improve Project schedules and productivity
· Coordinate Transportation in the most efficient and cost-effective manner in daily operations.
· Receive, translate, and distribute vendor production schedules from vendors
· Read, interpret, and question vendor schedules for sub-task delays or opportunities for improvement.
· Update ERP system with dates provided from vendors.
· Create, update and distribute expediting reports to internal stakeholders
