Our client, a local land development and engineering consulting firm, is currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.
You will become an integral part of a team of expert designers and engineers who strive to go beyond just the technical aspects of their roles. This position will provide an opportunity to work on a large variety of land development projects across Southern Ontario and to work with diverse internal and external project teams out of their office in Concord, Ontario.
Role And Responsibilities
- Responsible for various preliminary engineering and detailed design activities, including earthwork analysis, road and parking lot design, site grading, sewer design and analysis, and watermain design)
- An understanding that the drawings and reports you produce must clearly communicate the design intention and pride in producing well organized professional looking deliverables.
- Mentor and delegate tasks / responsibilities to junior staff and assist in their skill development and growth.
- Able to assist in the preparation of Quantity Calculations, Cost Estimates, and various contract administration duties as required.
- Performs other project coordination and design related duties.
- Participates in the monitoring of project schedules and design costs.
- Keeps project design records and files.
- Providing engineering and project management support to both PA Lead and working with other Project Managers
- Be the primary point of contact during the engineering design phase of projects that are assigned to them for both the client and the approval agencies
- Working with contract administration team to ensure a successful construction stage
Qualifications
- Degree from a recognized post-secondary program in Civil Engineering or related fields
- 10+ years of related experience in the industry
- Must have a variety of land development projects experience ranging from low rise, and large-scale mixed-use re-development, Subdivision approvals through to Site Plan for infill developments
- P.Eng is preferred
- Full working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to provide AutoCAD and design mentorship to junior staff
- Experience managing project budgets and schedules
- Experience coordinating workload and project tasks with peers
- Ability to be assigned and delegate projects and project tasks and deliver a final product
- Strong report writing skills (i.e. SWM Reports, Functional Servicing Reports, etc.)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate and coordinate project requirements with internal/external team members
- Driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
