Position Title: Part-Time Professor, Early Childhood Education
Status: Part-time teaching contract (3-6 hrs/week)
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness
Campus/Location: North
Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience
What You Will Do
A leader in polytechnic education, Humber invites talented, committed individuals interested in teaching on a part-time basis to take the first step in joining our dynamic faculty team.
Knowledge of learning pedagogy, learning design techniques, educational technology and authentic assessment are required for curriculum development. This individual will create innovative designs for courses that engage students in courses and modules that support a flexible, customizable, and personalized learning experience for students.
The successful candidates will teach courses in the Early Childhood Education diploma program. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include curriculum development, design/revise courses, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, and classroom management.
Qualifications
What you bring to the role:
The successful candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Studies, or a related program. They will have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of early childhood education and will be registered members (or demonstrate eligibility to become registered members) of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching at the post-secondary level and the technical ability and knowledge in instructional design, course development, learning management systems, and web-based authoring tools related to education/training. Experience applying the requirements of Ontario AODA legislation to the creation of educational materials is an asset.
Additional competencies include, but are not limited to, strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills, commitment to teaching excellence, student success and inclusive teaching practices (i.e. Universal Design for Learning).
