Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing will lead a dynamic sales team, coordinate all marketing initiatives and be accountable for hotel and banquet revenues, in addition to Catering and Convention Services and Revenue Management. A key member of our Executive Team, the Director of Sales & Marketing will be a creative, energetic and knowledgeable professional who is accountable for managing the total sales, advertising, communications/promotions and overall revenue generating efforts within the hotel through the following responsibilities:
Accountable for leading sales, marketing, revenue management and catering/conference services efforts within the hotel. This includes the generation of all revenues consistent with hotel and company objective
Prepares and administers the hotel’s sales & marketing plan and related budget ensuring integration of the strategic planning process in daily operations of the department to achieve total revenue goals.
Leads and develops the sales team to achieve their highest potential in concert with our strategic plan and direction.
Directs and manages all sales training, yearly sales targets, sales quotas, the incentive plan and all other corporate and hotel learning required to maintain the most effective sales professionals in the market.
Remains informed of the competition’s sales and marketing strategies and counteract effectively to secure maximum business for our hotel and our company.
Evaluates and recommends opportunities for developing new sources of business in all market segments and thereby broadening the account base.
Ensures the maintenance and efficiency of all sales technology.
Provide guidance in preparation of monthly reports, backlog, tracking of account room nights in the group, Corporate IT, tour and leisure market segments.
Work closely with the Revenue Management on issues concerning pricing, branding, product enhancements for certain market segments, etc.
Supervise the production and distribution of literature, collateral materials and audio-visual aids.
Coordinates the hotel’s participation in company-wide campaigns.
Knowledgeable about the competitive set in each city/resort area and on top of market share statistics
Make sure that the A&P budget at each hotel is in line with budget figure and that the appropriate dollars are being allocated to the key market segments
Maintains regular and effective communication with Hotel Owners, Executive Team and corporate sales and marketing management teams.
Maintains regular and effective communication with other local hotels and with Regional DOS&M
Leads the sales and marketing coordination efforts with local tourism initiatives to ensure a leadership role of the hotel.
Adheres to all colleague health and safety responsibilities.
Adheres to the hotel’s environmental policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or Hotel Management degree required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior sales management capacity within the hospitality industry or related tourism field.
Revenue management experience an asset.
Excellent communications skills – interpersonal, written
A proven record of results-oriented leadership and team development.
Computer literacy required in at least the following programs: MS Office, and Property Manager.
Bilingual as asset
