About the Role*
As the Senior Frontend Engineer for the marketing team, you’ll be leading the charge in building the next iteration of the Fellow marketing site. Currently, this role is a temporary/contractor role with the possibility of it becoming a permanent full-time position. This role is a remote role and can be done from anywhere in Canada.

What you’ll do: *

• Work directly with our team of designers and product leads to create beautiful layouts and great experiences.
• Contribute meaningfully to our maintenance and deployment process.
• Tap into your experience to make technical decisions with wide-reaching impact.
• Write and contribute to technical specs, and define and monitor release metrics.
• Work with product, design, and engineering leaders to scope, break down and build projects.
• Promote engineering best practices to the team, and lead the way in adopting new technologies and methodologies.
• Propel the company forward with your unique talents!

You should apply if you:

• Have in-depth experience with Wordpress CMS.
• Have some experience with Javascript frameworks and libraries (React/Vue/…) or static site derivatives (Next, Nuxt, etc.).
• Enjoy having top-to-bottom ownership of new features, including crafting technical specs, writing readable and extensible code, and keeping tabs on post-release metrics.
• Have 5+ years of programming experience (this can include personal projects, internships, co-ops, or anything you think is relevant).

• Any open source contributions.
• Blogs you write for, speaking engagements, and community involvement.

Our interview process:
We’ve designed our interview process to be as fair and quick as possible (from the time we reach out to you to the time you receive an offer, we aim for 2-3 weeks). We focus on real experience and communication skills, not algorithms and “gotcha” knowledge questions. And to make sure that we work around whatever obligations you may have in your day, we’ll send links for you to book a time to talk with us that works for you for every step in the process.

• A 30-minute call with a member of our HR team to learn more about you and answer any questions you may have about Fellow and the position. A 30-minute call with a member of the engineering team to determine culture and work style fit.
• A 90-minute video call interview with members of the engineering team.
• 45 minutes of talking more in-depth about your experience, and the types of things you like working on.
• 45 minutes on a technical question. We won’t ask you to write a sorting algorithm, syntax-perfect code, or anything we wouldn’t be able to do ourselves without the internet – we won’t even run any code! We want to focus on how you communicate your thought process and work towards solving a problem together, which we do a lot of on the team every day.

• A small take-home project. You’ll be asked to build and style a component of an existing Wordpress site. When you reach this stage in the process, you can choose to complete it whenever it works best for you. We’ll even invite you as a Guest to a dedicated Slack channel where you’ll have access to some of our engineers who will be ready to help out if you run into any technical issues.
