Team Member General Labour
Reporting to Shift Leader, Line Leader, and Team Leader, the Team Member – General Labour is responsible for physical labour duties in order to produce a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards set forth by FGF.
In this position you will work in a team environment led by a Team Leader. You will support your Team Leader by demonstrating and practicing team work every day and respect all your fellow Team Members.
Bin Mover – You will be responsible for washing and transporting dough bins from the mixing area to the resting area, and ensuring proper sequence is followed.
Box Former – You will stand at the end of the packaging line and put together boxes.
Box Packer – You will stand at the end of the packaging line, and place finished, packed goods, into the box and pass it through the taping machine.
Clamshell Closer – You will stand towards the end of the packaging line, after the fixer, in order to close the clamshells (packaging containers). A clamshell will pass by every second.
Clamshell Loader – You will stand next to the packaging conveyor belt, and place the clamshells (packaging containers) on the belt, for the Pickers to place the finished product in.
Depanner – You will be responsible for de-panning loaves that were recently baked in the oven onto a flat sheet. This also involves taking the pans out of the rack then reloading the racks with the loaves on the baking sheet. The racks are then transported to the slicer.
Fixer – You will stand towards the end of packaging conveyor belt, in order to fix the muffins/loaves in the clamshell before closing the clamshell.
Mixer Assistant –You help the Mixer prepare and make batches. This includes pushing heavy bins around to the necessary locations, and emptying heavy ingredients into the mixing machine. Ability to lift at least 40kg required.
Pan Loader – You will place baking pans with finished product onto the picking conveyor belt, in order for the product to start being packaged. The Pan Loader will wheel the rack filled with finished trays over to the beginning of the picking conveyor belt, and place each tray on the belt, taking the trays from bottom to top off the rack. Each baking rack holds 12 slots and the rack is roughly 5 feet tall.
Pan Washer – You will stand at the beginning of the conveyor belt, and load pans off a skid onto the conveyor belt, so they can enter the washing machine.
Picker – You will stand in a line with three or more other Team Members, and you will pick finished product (muffins and loaves) out of the baking trays as they pass by on a conveyor belt, and place them into plastic containers (Packaging). Picking sequence will vary by product.
Racker – You will stand at the end of the conveyor belt, as pans filled with unbaked product roll off, ready to be placed in the oven. As these pans move off the line (every 5 seconds), you will be responsible for placing them on the baking rack. Each baking rack holds between 20-32 slows, in which the Racker will slide into the slots from top to bottom. The rack is roughly 5 feet tall.
Rack Mover – You will be responsible for moving racks full of finished product from the one side of the plant (cooling area) to the other (packaging area)
Shaper – You will be responsible for hand stretching the naan dough into the required shape to be baked.
Skidder – You will stand at the end of the packaging line, and place boxes of finished product onto skids. Each layer of boxes will be organized into a pattern, which will be instructed to you by your Team Leader. After the skid is assembled, the Skidder will use a pump truck in order to move the skid into the Shipping area, so that the Forklift Operators can organize it accordingly.
Stacker – You will stand next to the conveyor belt and stack naan evenly as it passes by, in order to prepare the product for packaging.
Topper – You will remain standing beside the conveyor belt, while consistently placing more toppings on every pan that passes by. These pans consist of the unbaked batter, and pans will pass by you every 5-10 seconds. You will grab the toppings out of a container located beside you. The toppings depend on what product is being baked. The toppings at fgf Brands consist of: chocolate chips, frozen blueberries, frozen raspberries, frozen cranberries, or streusel.
NOTE – Team Members will rotate certain job duties throughout their shift.
Required Ingredients:
Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
