Reporting to the Director of Capacity Development, Intervention and prevention, the Default Support Officer is responsible for managing all of FMB’s Intervention responsibilities under the FMA in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Intervention Manager, First Nations Finance Authority (FNFA) and/or the First Nations Taxation Committee (FNTC) as required); assisting with the default management prevention pilot project and post-certification support (specifically with regards to potential defaults) in collaboration with relevant Capacity Development Managers.
Accountabilities
Being Intervention Ready:
Manage the FMB’s Intervention responsibilities under the FMA and FMB’s internal procedures;
Actively work with Senior Management to continuously strive for operational efficiency and implement improvement measures to ensure smooth facilitation of intervention procedures. This may include participating in and/or launching ad hoc projects, recommending new/updated policies and procedures, templates, communication materials and/or other related initiatives to deliver superior service to all stakeholders;
Manage contractors with respect to intervention services used by FMB in carrying out its authority under the Act, specifically the contract with the external Intervention Manager, if required;
Apprise Director of Capacity Development, Intervention and prevention, Executive Chair, CEO, Chair of Intervention Committee, General Counsel and Board of Directors of all Intervention activities;
Recommend and facilitate training for the FMB Board, FMB Board Committees and/or other key stakeholders.
Default management prevention pilot project:
In collaboration with the relevant Capacity Development Manager, assist with providing additional support/services to clients under the default management prevention pilot project;
Develop reporting templates and assist with DMPPP reporting to ISC.
Post-certification support:
In collaboration with the relevant Capacity Development Manager and/or FNFA, assist with providing additional support/services to post-certified clients, specifically with regards to potential defaults;
Provide recommendations to improve collaboration/communications between FMB and FNFA/FNTC before, during and after an intervention.
The Default Support Officer performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A degree in Business Administration or related discipline; Graduate Degree preferred;
A Chartered Professional Accounting designation;
Minimum five years of experience in a professional services firm in a client service role;
Knowledge and understanding of First Nations and Indigenous governments and organizations;
Strong working knowledge of Indigenous financial management;
Ensure clients are treated with respect, a highly professional empathetic approach is used and good working relationships are maintained;
Adhere to strict confidentiality requirements;
Previous default management experience preferred;
Risk Management knowledge and Financial Restructuring experience;
Possess a valid driver’s license.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

National travel may be required;
