The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative, and dedicated team
members and leaders. The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support selfdetermination
and decision-making to improve health outcomes.
The Communications and Media Relations team works in partnership with FNHA program areas, leadership, regional teams and health
partners to support First Nations in BC to achieve their health and wellness goals and improve access to culturally safe, quality health
services for all First Nations people in BC. The team provides strategic communications, publishing and graphic design services, and
develops content for a range of channels to ensure clear, timely and appropriate messaging for internal and external audiences.
Title: Senior Communications Officer
Contract: Permanent
Location: Metro Vancouver Offices, Hybrid – 50% in office.
About The Role
As SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, you will be a key member of the FNHA Communications team and upholds the vision and mandate of the
FNHA. Reporting to the Manager, Communications Services, the Senior Communications Officer leads the development and implementation of
proactive communications strategies, campaigns, and assets for diverse FNHA health and wellness programs including primary care, mental
health and wellness, harm reduction, health promotion and emergency management.
You will develop, plan and deliver proactive communications with general direction from Manager, including the development of key messages
and communications assets such as publications, articles and ad copy, videos, podcasts, web content and other collateral as needed. You will lead
the execution of communication and campaign strategies in collaboration with other members of the communications team, internal and external
stakeholders and senior executives. Through discussions with internal and external stakeholders, you will establish understanding and ensure
consideration of First Nations perspectives and cultures, and alignment with FNHA values and 7 Directives.
About You
You have experience overseeing major projects and timelines, and strong writing and editing experience, including for web and social media. You
have experience managing vendor relationships. Experience working with First Nations or within a First Nations led organization , as well as, within
a healthcare or non-profit organization, are assets.
