First Nations Technical Advisory Group Alberta (TSAG) is seeking to employ a full time Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Asset Condition Reporting System (ACRS) team. Reporting to the E-ACRS Team Lead, the E-ACRS Cost Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the cost of labor, equipment, and materials for projects across the Alberta First Nations. They will communicate project requirements and scope to project managers and develop relationships with clients.

The Estimator will perform risk analysis, profitability analysis, and analyze the competitive positioning of projects out for tender.

Responsibilities

Estimate profitable projects efficiently and in a timely manner

Cost estimating for asset condition assessments, that would include developing cost for remediating the deficiencies of an asset based on the recommended best method as determined during inspections.

Creating replacement cost for the asset and replacement cost breakdown of its components

Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing to generate project costs

Ensure to meet all deadlines

Perform walk-throughs, invitations, and takeoffs

Develop estimating methods (strategies, project selection, and tools)

Develop business relationships with vendors and clients

Obtain pricing from vendors, suppliers/subcontractors and incorporate it into an estimate

Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions

Track, process, and report estimating department goals, progress, and historical data

Perform other job-related duties as required

Requirements

Minimum 4 years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role

In-depth knowledge of construction materials and techniques

Experience in estimating general construction projects to include buildings, roads, and drainage system

Experience in estimating water and waste water systems, including water treatment facilities is an asset

Experience in estimating bridges is an asset

Experience in HVAC/Refrigeration estimating

Post-Secondary Education is an asset

Well versed in Project Management Processes

Advanced computer proficiency (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Viso, and Internet research) is essential

Experience working in a very fast-paced, self-directed, and dynamic work environment

Demonstrated positive relationships with internal/external customers
