Fitzrovia Looking for Senior Project Accountant at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

About the Role:

Fitzrovia is seeking to hire a Senior Project Accountant to join our team. This role will be primarily responsible for managing the monthly accounting and reporting cycle for all of Fitzrovia’s development projects and Fitzrovia’s corporate entities. Additional responsibilities will be required on a periodic basis including supporting all project managers with information requests or financial analysis.

As we are a highly collaborative team, this role is on-site full-time, and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Finance Functions

• Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial records for various stakeholders.
• Perform monthly accounting close procedures.
• Process the full cycle of accounts payable including: posting payable entries, cheque issuance, responding to enquiries from vendors and vendor account reconciliation.
• Coordinate, review and analyze monthly progress billing invoices for construction to ensure billing accuracy, fee reconciliation and ledger balance.
• Ensure financial statements are prepared on a timely basis for our stakeholders;
• Track budget changes and update the financial models monthly as contracts are awarded.
• Execute daily transactions for all projects (wires, loan requests, etc).
• Support senior executives across all departments with requested financial analysis or retrieval of information.
• Cash flow management.
• Prepare compliance filings (HST, Corporate Tax, etc).
• Work with external accountants to prepare year-end financials.
• Assist with obtaining the land loan and construction loans.
• Perform other duties as required.

Investor Relations

• Prepare monthly investor reports for each project.
• Prepare and distribute budget approvals sheets.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financials.
• Prepare and distribute capital calls.
• Assist with the monthly development plan distribution

Qualifications and Experiences:

• CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA or actively enrolled in the CPA program (midway through or nearing completion) is an asset
• Post-secondary education with a specialty in Accounting or Business Administration
• At least 2 years experience in a similar role and/or accounting and tax experience in a corporate environment is considered a strong asset
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and planning skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet time sensitive deadlines
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sage Accounting
• Flexibility to work outside of core hours when business needs dictate
• Self-starter attitude with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Highest degree of integrity, honesty and commitment to professionalism
• Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
• Self-motivated, curious, responsive, and result driven
• Strong teamwork, decision & problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
