Reporting to the Site Environmental Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting construction activities for compliance with permits, Environmental Management Plans, Environmental Work Plans and Project commitments. Primarily responsible for compliance during construction activities. Role is predominantly field based with office support for administrative component.
• Conduct field inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with the permit conditions, project commitments and Construction Environmental Management Plan (CMEP) using project forms.
• Enter field inspection findings into the project electronic database.
• Collect soil and water samples using scientifically approved methodologies.
• Conduct fish and amphibian salvage.
• Conduct bird nest monitoring.
• Assist with revegetation program.
• Conduct invasive plant monitoring and removal.
• Provide input in to spill clean up activities, when required.
• Develop environmental work plans to support construction activities.
• Participate in incident investigations, when required
• Work independently and in a cross disciplinary team environment.
• Interacts and interfaces with client’s environmental team.
• Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Project site/field working conditions.
• Onsite-site project workspace of various conditions which may include temporary office facilities and exposure to moving, mechanical parts and vibration, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and various levels of outside weather.
• Walk or be on feet for extended periods.
• Walk on uneven, unimproved surfaces.
• Walk up and down ramps and stairs.
