You’ve got an eye for detail, and with your technical knowledge and meticulous approach, you can identify golden opportunities for efficiencies within any energy system. You’re a team player, and you always execute large tasks with the best possible results by enabling a collective effort with your colleagues. Your skillset and experience will set you up for success as our Energy Systems Performance Specialist.
In this role, you’ll work with Operations, customers, and other stakeholders to identify and implement system commissioning, optimization, control and energy management plans, as well as make recommendations for operating assets more efficiently. In year 1, you will:
Develop your understanding of the FortisBC Alternative Energy Services utility model.
Develop a deeper understanding of various energy systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC, pumps, fans, motors, boilers).
Analyze consumption trends and review recommendations for improvements with respect to the efficiency of the systems. In year 2, you will:
Provide leadership and direction to contractors, respond to questions, explain technical requirements, validate work according to scope of work standards to maintain quality.
Coordinate and follow up on the status of rectification of construction deficiencies as well as system commissioning and optimization.
Supervise and lead a network of contractors and subject matter experts (SMEs) that are responsible for providing preventative maintenance and emergency response activities on complex conventional and low carbon energy systems.
Manage existing contractor agreements and develop relationships with new contractors and SMEs.
Project and program level administration including planning, budgeting and reporting.
Maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders, and other departments. What it takes:
A diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field such as engineering, construction management, operations management, facilities management, automation and instrumentation and others, plus a minimum of three years of professional experience in the energy industry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certification or eligibility to register as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Technician with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia considered an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of various energy systems and direct digital control from previous professional experience.
Excellent project management skills for implementing system enhancements and coordinating work among contractors and internal stakeholders.
Great communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and strengthen connections in the workplace with an inclusive approach.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
