Detailed Overview:
Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
The Manager, Credentialing & Privileging Operations is responsible for the administration of comprehensive medical staff credentialing and privileging services across Fraser Health. The Manager provides leadership to a team of Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinators, assisting with business planning and assessing trends and identifying issues that promote strategic alignment with provincial legislation and the Fraser Health Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules. The Manager is a key leader in ensuring optimal resource utilization and continuously improving the provision of quality credentialing and privileging processes across Fraser Health. Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and guidance to assigned staff using effective management techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, performance management) to support the achievement of required outcomes. Investigates work and staff issues and initiates disciplinary action up to and including terminations.
- Assists the Director in conducting strategic financial analysis in the development and management of the Credentialing & Privileging Operations annual operating budget; conducting ongoing monitoring activities of the overall budget, providing rationale for deficits and constructing mitigation strategies.
- Identifies, recommends and implements improvement to credentialing and privileging practices and services, including system implementation life cycles, in response to legislated and Board established standards and/or new or changed service requirements, new initiatives or continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensures business continuity of the credentialing and privileging function during planned and unplanned staff leaves by covering the case load in accordance with the Bylaws and Rules.
- Develops performance reports for credentialing and privileging for the ongoing monitoring and reporting of efficiency and performance.
- Participates in BC Medical Quality Initiative (BC MQI) meetings and working group sessions on an operational level; fosters partnerships with BC MQI and other provincial health authorities to develop and implement standardized credentialing, privileging and compliance processes to improve integration across the health system.
- Assesses enhancement opportunities for the provincial credentialing and privileging software system used in Fraser Health (FH) in collaboration with the Director.
- Liaises with Regional Department Heads, Local Department Heads, Regional Division Heads, Site Medical Directors and Medical Administrative Assistants and others regarding various aspects of credentialing and privileging.
- Maintains current and expert knowledge of Credentialing and Privileging processes and procedures; documents procedures, processes, and creates information system user guidelines and training materials.
- Contributes to and recommends the development of short and long term goals and objectives for Medical Affairs which supports the mission, philosophies and goals of FH.
- Assists the Director on various FH initiatives, committees and projects, as required.
- Participates in the research and development of proposals regarding Medical Affairs issues, in collaboration with the Director.
Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, and/or a related health discipline plus five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent related experience in business analysis, healthcare information management including two (2) years’ experience managing staff, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Working knowledge of Fraser Health’s physician resources, credentialing and experience in medical affairs related software systems.
