Job Description

Responsible for the operation of the Front End and Check Out areas, and the supervision of Cashiers. Also responsible for processing the payroll for the store.

• Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
• 1. Processes customer purchases by scanning/entering prices into cash register, and obtaining and processing payment.
• 2. Oversees all Cash Office duties including balancing, deposits, pickups, sales reports, etc. Maintains documentation and back-up reports as per company procedures.
• 3. Acts as point of contact in resolving escalated customer issues.
• 4. Manages Cashier staff by hiring, training and coaching, reviewing performance and providing feedback, and conducting disciplinary procedures.
• 5. Performs administrative duties such as scheduling, preparing and submitting payroll records, maintaining employee files, and processing invoices.
• 6. Maintains operating procedures by establishing and enforcing cash handling procedures, reviewing and updating front-end security procedures as directed by the Loss Prevention Department, and ensures Food Safety and Health and Safety requirements are met by the department staff.
• 7. Maintains functionality of all POS equipment, computers, and workstations by reporting and following up on repairs.
• 8. Merchandises Front End racks and fixtures including ordering of product.
• 9. Performs other related duties as required.

Experience, Education, Skills

· High School diploma plus one (1) year’s experience on Front End including management experience in retail or an equivalent combination of education and experience

· Knowledge of Front End operations

· Good understanding of Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation

· Good customer service skills

· Strong interpersonal skills including attention to detail, time management and ability to multi-task

· Good written and verbal communication skills

· Proven ability to hire, train and coach staff

· Basic ability to use Microsoft Office

Other Job Requirements

· Lifting weights of up to 10 – 20 kilograms (e.g., bags of dog food, potatoes, onions, cases of pop)

· Standing for long periods of time while on the sales floor / serving customers

· Bending, lifting and reaching to refill sales racks at front of store (e.g., candy, magazines, cigarettes)

· Exposure to heat, cold and dust due to work location near store entrance/exits

· Exposure to chemicals used to clean conveyer belt, scanner and food alleys

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $38,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
