Gasket Games is looking for a Lead Software Engineer. You are an experienced software engineer who excels at both the technical and the people management side. This role is perfect for someone who loves building strong relationships, enjoys solving team dynamics, and who knows how to deliver actionable feedback in a genuine way. You will leverage your deep technical experience in games to help the team find the right solutions to programming problems and also contribute solutions yourself. While this role leads other programmers, it is not a hands-off role. This role reports to the Studio Technical Director and collaborates closely with other project leads.
What will you do?
Collaborate with producers and the Studio Technical Director to map out objectives & priorities for the project.
Actively participate in project leads meetings, working to identify development bottlenecks and coordinate solutions.
Communicate project updates and priorities to your team and product stakeholders.
Mentor the engineering team on all aspects of game development, and guide them towards meeting our development goals
Support your direct reports by providing timely feedback, as well as working with them to set goals and guide their path to achieving these goals.
Qualifications
You have a degree in Software Engineering or equivalent.
7+ years of game industry experience shipping multiple titles.
You have experience leading small teams of engineers.
Extensive experience programming in C++ and/or C#
You understand the complexities of making great games.
You have deep technical expertise in the games industry, preferably in console game development (Xbox, Playstation, or Switch)
You have a passion for mentoring less experienced Software Engineers/Programmers
You are eager to share your knowledge and expertise with your colleagues
Nice To Have
Professional experience shipping AAA games with Unreal, Unity, and/or custom Engines
Experience across multiple areas of game development such as gameplay, audio, systems, tools, online or UI.
