The Role

We are looking for a technical lead in automated driving software application who is responsible for leading thedevelopment of AV and active safety in mapping functions. Will involve rapid prototyping, specifying requirements, evaluation of designs, analysis, development, implementation and testing of AV software applications as a part of AV and active safety development projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Exercises technical direction over engineering support personnelin development of these systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Ownership of technical strategy in your domain (mapping) by defining technology roadmap & enablers and cross-collaborating with multiple teams to ensure feasibility and viability.
Technical coaching, development and mentorship of team members.
Single point contact for AV software application development and execution on mapping functions working with the various program teams, leadership, and engineering teams for a successful and robust launch.
Continuously work towards improving efficiency within the group by improving processes, quality and mentoring the team members.
Lead/participate in software peer reviews to ensure compliance to requirements
Provide technical leadership for sophisticated technology development
Root cause all applicable software application related issues during testing and validation
Ensure work is completed as per the milestones with excellence
Responsible for compliance with GM processes and safety procedures
Represent the team globally as a key partner to the product
Support and/or lead activities for customer outreach and education in these technologies and their respective use cases
Cumulative travel requirements of 2 to 6 weeks a year are typical.
Qualifications:
Extensive technical leadership experience in software development, production software implementation – 12+ years.
Proficient in C++, C, Python or other scripting languages.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
Experience with automotive or similar AV/ mapping software development.
Strong technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces
Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.
Design/Development of safety critical systems/components (ISO26262)
Experience in automotive product release and specification process
High level of oral and written communication skill with strong project management skills
