Job Description:
The OR Assistant provides support to the perioperative setting and works closely with the OR staff in each Operating Room. Requires understanding of surgical preference cards and co-ordination of room set-up with Perioperative Staff to maintain equipment and resources required for surgical procedures.
Will perform a broad range of tasks in alignment with departmental goals and objectives, including but not limited to stock management of surgical supplies, monitoring backorders and communication with purchasing department and Team Leader, assisting with patient flow, assisting with position of patients under direction of the OR team, set up of all surgical suites with positioning and procedural equipment, appropriate use of routine practices and additional precautions when performing between case cleaning of the operating room theatres and perform additional duties as assigned to contribute to patient safety and flow.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Education:
Grade 12 education or equivalent
OR Room Attendant Micro-credential program
Required Experience:
Previous experience at least one (1) year working in an Operating Room environment is essential
Knowledge of Operating Room equipment, devices, and processes essential
Experience with aseptic technique and cleaning of sterile areas is essential
Must be able to function independently and as team member
Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Ability and experience demonstrated through positive attendance, performance appraisals and work history

Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively in a team setting

Hours of Work: Temporary Full Time. Must be available to work shifts which may include days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
Salary: $26.45 – $27.09 an hour. You will receive an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation.
Pension Plan: Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (“HOOPP”)
