GFL Environmental is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Treasury & Shared Service team based out of our Vaughan Corporate Office! Reporting into the Manager, Treasury Finance, the key focus for the Senior Accountant role is to work on balance sheet analytics and reporting including key variance explanations and investigations, own the end-to-end process surrounding new bank account reconciliations from acquisitions, project lead resolutions on critical variances outstanding on reconciliations, and ad hoc reporting & analytics or special projects as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Balance Sheet Reporting & Analytics on key working capital accounts
- Work with integrations team on integrating and reconciling new bank accounts from acquisitions
- Monitor and improve intercompany accounting and reconciliation issues for Treasury & Shared Services
- Assist FA team-mates with the reconciliations and clean ups of high-difficulty accounts
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (such as AR, AP, Controllers) to ensure material outstanding items on bank reconciliations are resolved
- Assist in the support of quarterly/year-end audits
- Assist in process improvement initiatives and set-up new processes
- Other ad-hoc duties which may include reporting & analytics as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
- 5+ years of experience in a corporate accounting function
- Post-Secondary education in Finance & Accounting or related field of study, with CPA designation is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Multi-tasking with ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with Great Plains is a plus
