GIGG Express Inc. was founded in 2010 and is one of the fastest growing asset-based trucking companies in Canada. The Headquarters at Creekbank is a CTPAT certified terminal with office, warehouse, shop and yard. We serve many different industries and specialize in the transport of dry goods.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support the Controller in all financial areas from forecasting/budgeting and expense management to analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-level analysis of revenue, credit, expenses and overhead. You must have strong passion for quantitative analysis and high level of expertise in Excel and Accounting Systems that will support the Accounting and Finance team in establishing new and innovative ways to improve business processes, tools, and reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gather and organize financial data from various departments
- Support financial processes such as Bank entries for multiple accounts, reconciliations of inter-company transactions, P&L and balance sheet reviews, weekly cheques and wires review and approvals, monthly QST & HST filing, daily credit card transactions schedule update etc.
- Compile and analyze financial reports and find discrepancies that require senior management’s attention
- Lead M/E, Y/E closing process to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Complete and review monthly expense allocations between inter companies, create inter-co invoices, and ensure inter-co settlements are done
- Assist in audits, preparation of audit work papers and year end audit packages
- Ownership of ad-hoc projects and analysis to support business decision-making and mitigate risks.
- Providing support to other quarterly processes within the team.
- Forecast models for revenue changes and expenditure increases/decreases
- Financial analysis of income statement and balance sheet accounts and prepare analytical reports identifying the KPIs
- Prepare Ad hoc reports required for financial reporting monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Assisting ensuring compliance and implementation of accounting standards
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years Accounting experience preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance
- Must have CPA certification or enrolled in final level
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks and Sage 300
- Experience working with Trucking/Logistics company preferred
- Knowledge of lease accounting is an asset
- Inter-company accounting experience preferred
- Proven track record of working with large groups or teams to implement changes resulting from financial analysis
- Demonstrated ability to assess credit risks accurately
