Who is a Director of Group Experience?
The Director of Group Experience is responsible for ensuring the success of their divisions and portfolios within the Company. They are responsible for ensuring the growth and development Group Experience Divisional Managers and the areas of the business they are responsible for. They protect and promote the culture of the company and provide purpose and leadership in overseeing Group Experience Operations. They support club operations and Group Experience Divisional Managers in order to improve revenue, cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. They are also responsible for managing and executing a portfolio of assigned areas of responsibility to improve operations for the entire company.
What will you be doing?
Manages direct reports and the people requirements of the Department/Team using provided tools and resources to ensure the successful execution of all key responsibilities and tasks, retention of great group experience talent, and high Associate engagement.
Facilitates recruitment of direct reports alongside the Talent Acquisition Department to ensure adequate resourcing based on approved Department/Team budget.
Leads the onboarding, coaching, learning, development, and performance management of all direct reports to ensure a positive and safe working experience
Observes Group Experience Divisional Managers on Club Visits and provides feedback and development
Supports their Divisional Managers through weekly team and one-on-one calls
Help develop and execute Recruitment and Talent Management Strategy
Participate in the development and execution of Mentorship Program
Recruit and help manage Instructor Advisory Board
Drive recruitment, learning and development, engagement, etc. with Performance and Team Training Associates
Direct management of ~4-5 Group Experience Divisional Managers: Administrative work, direct supervision and leadership duties
Ongoing development, training and engagement of Operations Directors, DMs and GMs
Fulfill the Group Experience Manager roles and responsibilities for a select group of clubs.
Participate in the operation, design and rebuild of the Group Experience Department.
Collaborate in design and rebuild of Group Experience identity, programming and culture
Work with Personal Training on improved collaboration and coordination, e.g., sales process, PTs becoming Team Training Coaches as well, etc.
Communications, learning and engagement for Group Fitness Instructors, e.g., ongoing feedback mechanism (need to collect, assess and analyze feedback and implement change based on feedback)
Support goals and objectives of Operational Excellence Program, e.g., host “best practices” calls on various topics, e.g., how to expand programming.
Consistently drive cost saving opportunities.
Plan, Direct and Support 5 Pillars: Studio Programs (Group Fitness Classes and Group Cycling Classes), Team Training, Performance Programming, Specialty Programming, Special Programs (Athletic Teams etc)
Program and Content Management (curation, evaluation, creation, training & development etc.).
Continue to define and drive Performance Programming
Participate or manage external partnerships and collaborations, e.g., Programming partners, education partners, etc.
Support new Program development and launch (e.g., Craft Boxing) – Similar work requirements to opening a new Club
New Program evaluation, selection, design, development, curation, etc., e.g., GoodLife branded functional training program, other new program offerings to elevate experience, develop specialty classes, Craft/REGYMEN Light, etc.
Participate in the revitalization of existing programming.
Content development for live and digital channels
Takes the lead for initiatives or projects owned by the Group Experience team
Acts as the subject matter expert for initiatives or projects owned by other Departments
Support regular issue management and escalations
Ongoing special event development and management, e.g., Showcases.
Work with the subject matter experts to design and execute marketing and public relations tactics, initiatives and campaigns.
Act as a spokesperson and subject matter expert for Group Experience.
Do you have what it takes?
Degree or Diploma
3 years as a successful and respected Divisional Manager (Regional Manager)
Extensive knowledge of operational aspects of Group Experience
Strong understanding of human resources management principles, practices and procedures
Strong understanding of Instructor/Coach development and engagement
Proven leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong decision-making skills
Solid judgment, critical thinking, analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills
Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong presentation skills
