Role
Reporting to the Manager, Assurance, the Financial Analyst is accountable for planning, conducting, and reporting on compliance and assurance reviews for the Ministry. In this position, you will perform reviews to examine, evaluate and report on various aspects of risk management, internal controls and operational governance; provide financial expertise and analysis and report on the findings.
You will also be responsible for a variety of financial analysis including:
Accounting Officer (AO) compliance audits and reviews of financial transactions.
Complete effective financial risk analysis to determine the risk exposure of ministry assets and the appropriate audit and review standards to strengthen expenditure compliance with financial policies.
Conduct sampling and auditing; ensure the compliance reviews reduce the identified risks and strengthen internal controls.
As a successful candidate, you will utilize your strong interpersonal communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. Critical thinking and strong analytical skills in combination with professional judgment and ethical principles will enable you to succeed in this position.
Qualifications
University graduation in a Finance/ Accounting or related field plus 2 years related experience required; or Related Diploma and a minimum of 4 years directly related experience.
Equivalency are: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The following are required:
Experience working with accounting principles, theories and concepts
Experience implementing internal controls and financial best practices.
Experience in financial analysis, compliance and/or auditing.
The following are the asset:
Working towards a Professional Accounting designation.
Experience with ERP system (e.g. 1GX).
Experience developing communications, reports and/or presentations for senior leadership.

Salary
$2,281.95 to $2,993.39 bi-weekly. ($59,558.90 – $78,127.48/ year)
Notes
Hours of work per week – 36.25 hours/week
Hours of work are Monday-Friday from 8.15a.m. to 4.30p.m. (36.25 hours/week)
