About Our Opportunity
EECD is committed to building a strong and stable early childhood educator workforce to support the transformation of early learning and childcare across Nova Scotia. Professional development plays a key role in the recruitment and retention of a strong workforce.
Under the direction of the Manager, Quality and Professional Learning, the Curriculum Development Specialist is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula and professional development activities to support the delivery of quality and inclusive early learning and childcare programs by early childhood educators/care providers across the province. The Specialist is also responsible for the development and maintenance of internal training and development for Department staff delivering Early Years programs and services.

Qualifications And Experience
As the ideal candidate, you will have a bachelor’s degree in education (or equivalent) and seven (7) years of experience (or a related masters degree and five (5) years of experience) in instructional design/curriculum development (for in-person and online learning); The Curriculum Development Specialist will have knowledge of curriculum development models, adult learning principles and practices, inclusive education principles such as universal design for learning and culturally responsive andragogy and pedagogy.

Working Conditions
Located in an office environment in Halifax, with occasional travel.

Please note, this is expected to be a term status position with an end date of September 12, 2025; however, the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
What We Offer
Pay Grade: PR 18
Salary Range: $3,215.50 – $3,781.51 Bi-Weekly
