The Public Guardian and Trustee of Saskatchewan requires a highly motivated, energetic, and committed individual to assume the role of Trust Officer in the Adult Services unit. This unit is responsible for administering the financial and property affairs of dependent adults.
Using your working knowledge of finance, administration, taxation, investment, and accounting principles and practices, you will be responsible for:
Our candidate of choice will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop effective working relationships with clients, their dependents, stakeholders, and the general public. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to engage individuals who may be confused, resistant, and have mental health illnesses or addictions. A demonstrated ability to apply a working knowledge of financial, administrative, taxation, investment, and accounting principles and practices is critical to this position. You will also have knowledge of basic government structure, operations, policies, and procedures.
You will bring leadership and team building skills in order to carry out functional supervisory duties to support staff in the unit. You must have knowledge of computer applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheet software, and experience with databases.
Occasionally travel may be required in order to provide services to our clients located throughout the province.
You must have the ability to understand and interpret Acts, Regulations, policies, and procedures, along with the ability to assess client’s and their dependent’s financial requirements. Your ability to think creatively when solving unique client issues and problems will serve you well in this position.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Administration, Commerce, Finance, or a diploma from Saskatchewan Polytechnic (formerly SIAST) in Administration or Accounting and relevant work experience, or a similar course of study supplemented with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
