The Partnerships and Workforce Planning Branch of the Ministry of Health serves the health care sector, including the Ministry, in the areas of health workforce planning and policy; regional and agency support and advice; governance, policy and legislation; privacy and health information; emergency management; intergovernmental relations; Aboriginal policy; nursing policy; and labour relations.
The Partnership Development and Strategy Implementation Unit is seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and results-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. As a Health Recruitment and Retention Navigator Lead you will design, analyze and conduct research, program development and evaluation; provide long-term and future focused strategic planning and policy development expertise, and lead/participate on inter-ministerial frameworks in order to development and enhance the recruitment, training, incentivization and retention of domestic and international healthcare workers to support the Ministry of Health’s Health Human Resources Action Planning.
You will work with a variety of health, education and government stakeholders to gather data, assess health human resource needs, identify solutions and strategies for ensuring critical health human resources are available. In addition, you will answer information requests from members of the public and government on a variety of topics related to health human resources.
As the Health Recruitment and Retention Navigator Lead you will be responsible for:
Supporting and leading the coordination of health human resources projects and working groups that span over multiple ministries as well as the health system partners, community based organizations, regulators and training institutions;
Leading projects that include identifying options and recommending courses of action that will include facilitating discussions, lead cross-team collaboration, and manage issues while building and managing relationships and team members;
Undertakes strategic policy development to initiate policy renewal and systemic change for the recruitment, training, incentive and retention plan for domestic and internationally trained healthcare workers.
Develops evaluation frameworks to enable the Ministry, partner agencies, partner ministries and local communities to evaluate its performance in meeting strategic goals and objectives of the HHR Action Plan, including data collection, performance measures, identification of outcomes.
Works with domestic and internationally educated healthcare workers to assess settlement needs and priorities and to make linkages in programs and services by connecting with partner ministries, agencies and communities.
To join this challenging, innovative and supportive working environment, the successful candidate will have knowledge of health policy issues, public policy development and data analysis, and an understanding of government structures and decision-making processes. Familiarity with government decision-making processes and Saskatchewan’s health sector issues would be strong assets in this position.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a degree in Public Administration, Health Administration, Commerce, or other social science discipline, and experience managing or coordinating projects.
