The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has a career opportunity for self-confident and positive role models. These positions are available at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre. The Ministry of Corrections and Policing is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.
We are seeking compassionate, respectful and empathetic individuals who are eager to contribute in a positive way to the challenges of working in an Adult Correctional Centre. The successful candidates will be professionals who will commit to teamwork and who have effective communication and interpersonal skills. Our candidates of choice will work with a team of health care professionals to provide direct patient nursing care and treatment. They will maintain accurate patient records, actively promote preventative health measures, respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies with appropriate interventions and assess medical and mental conditions, making referrals as needed.
To be considered for this position, you will be actively registered (or eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPN) or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (RN). You must have knowledge of medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies; drug/alcohol withdrawal indicators and effects; communicable diseases in a correctional population; public health issues and risk factors; and knowledge of multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives.
The successful candidates will work: day, evening, week and/or weekend shifts.
