The Saskatchewan Public Service Commission (PSC) is the central human resource agency for the Government of Saskatchewan. The PSC provides excellence in human resource management to enable a high performing and innovative professional public service. The Human Resource Service Centre (HRSC) provides payroll, human resource and benefits administration services to clients representing all government ministries and a number of smaller organizations. The HRSC is currently seeking a term Senior Human Resource Payroll Administrator (Senior HRPA).
Senior HRPA’s provide support and training using adult training methods to coach and mentor others or through the preparation and facilitation of individual and group training sessions. They also provide team leadership through process development and the creation of tools for managers, employees and internal staff (including Job Aids, Calculators and Checklists) for a wide variety of transactions and HR support. They collaborate with other PSC areas and stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures to gain efficiencies, minimize errors or streamline processes to reduce complexity and identify and address gaps in service delivery.
The successful candidate will be thorough, attentive to detail and confident in order to maintain the integrity of system data and ensure a high level of accuracy in processing HR and/or payroll related transactions. Senior HRPA’s hold their own assignment portfolio, in addition to being responsible for supporting and training other team members. Your strong analytical and problem solving skills will be challenged as you research, test and determine appropriate solutions to contribute to the resolution of issues and ensure that updates are made in the MIDAS HR Payroll application within set deadlines. Your strong client service skills, written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, agreements, policies, contracts and procedures will enable you to provide direction on HR and payroll related items and issues and is an essential requirement of this position.
A mandatory requirement of the position in proficiency in knowledge of and the ability to process payroll and HR related transactions in MIDAS HR Payroll, a large computerized environment that includes one-time payment requirements and retroactive activity and multiple assignments. Also, the successful candidate will be able to use various computer software including Microsoft Office programs and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel with the ability to develop, format and manipulate data in Excel spreadsheets using advanced features such as complex formulas for calculator development and pivot tables for reporting purposes.
Finally, you will need to have a good understanding of training techniques and processes from an adult education perspective.
