As a network administrator and computer technician, your main tasks will be to:

• Manage all computer networks (Canada / United States)
• Design and monitor the network operating budget
• Optimise the network by implementing installation or revamping projects for certain aspects of the company’s network, hardware or software.
• Provide support to users on a daily basis.
• Ensure the appropriate management of the users’ access rights.
• Ensure the efficient flow of information within the company by managing and verifying the proper functioning of its IT infrastructure.
• Manage the 124 work stations and user accounts.
• Ensure the maintenance of the IT structure on our internal network
• Be the lead in ensuring the management of cyber security (CTPAT)
• Ensure good Internet connectivity and manage routers, modems, firewalls, proxies, virtual private networks (VPN)
• Carry out data backup and restoration operations.
• Conduct security and quality control tests and checks.
• Test and install computer hardware, network software, operating system software and software applications.
• Diagnose, prevent and remedy network failures and malfunctions.
• Train and sensitize users to networks and security.
• Advise the user on the most suited hardware and software for their network needs.
• Bring technical and operational expertise on the network aspect during the launch of projects.
• Take into account users’ expectations in terms of network performance requirements (power, speed, stability).
• Protect the company’s data.
• Manage the telecommunications network (conventional, VoIP, mobile).
• Negotiate cellular agreements, computer equipment and ensure their maintenance.

Skills:

• DCS in Computer Science or any related experience (minimum 4 years).
• Experienced in network and system administration.
• Good knowledge of IS architecture and functionalities.
• Understanding of communication protocols.
• Mastery of computer and telecommunications security standards and procedures.
• Mastery of various computer languages.
• Good knowledge of telecommunication technologies, Internet (Web, XML, PHP…), as well as databases (Oracle, SQL Server…).
• Strong knowledge of the main operating systems.
• Fluent in English and French, spoken and written 4/5.
• The ability to listen and communicate in order to fully understand the needs of users.
• Thoroughness and discipline, as the administration of a network of multiple workstations/equipment requires constant and close attention.
• Good understanding of risks, both technical and data related.
• The ability to cope with stress in order to deal with the pressure in the event of a malfunction.
• Responsiveness and availability to provide an efficient and timely service to users.
• Patience, either within the process of a particularly difficult diagnosis, or within the context of training users in network security rules.
• Adaptability and curiosity as technological evolutions occur rapidly and must be assimilated in order to optimize the existing system.
