As a team member, you can expect to:

This role is responsible for four (4) critical areas: site procurement, freight and transportation, inventory management and inbound/outbound logistics. The incumbent will lead a team of 2 logistics professionals, Shipper/Receiver and Supply Chain Specialist.

The logistics manager will be responsible for overseeing the buying for the facility, the transportation of goods from manufacturer to the customers including inbound containers, outgoing freight & parcel shipments to meet our customer needs as well as selecting and managing 3PL with KPIs to ensure daily efficient operation and meet order delivery requirements. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement and logistics vision, strategy, policies, and process.

Please note, due to the size of the team, this is a working manager position, and will perform various duties within it’s function, such as data entry, invoice management, etc.

Specific roles & responsibilities are as follows:

Facility Buyer:

• Responsible for executing against all department purchases, he/she is also responsible for monitoring maintenance spare part inventory levels and replenishing as required.
• Purchasing and negotiating supplier contracts for the organization
• Communicating with suppliers (written and verbal) on a daily basis to achieve organizational objectives.
• Creating base agreements for net new suppliers as well as managing onboarding process requirements
• Ensuring terms and conditions are appropriate for purchases.
• Build strong, strategic supplier relationships and measure/analyze supplier performance and quality
• Drive savings while negotiating commercial terms and facilitating the contracting process with the client, stakeholders, legal teams and suppliers.
• Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships across all levels of the client’s business, procurement and legal
• Responsible for monitoring and acquiring cost savings & productivity participation rebates from suppliers.
• Annual reviews of the contracts and ensuring a positive Audit posture at all times including required documentation
• Setting up Supplier meetings when warranted
• Working with Finance ensuring Account payments are up to date and Tax allocations are correct
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Inventory Management:

• Direct responsibility and ownership of all daily inventory and buying activities for the organization
• Ownership of all Inventory/Buying P&L budget line items
• Purchase orders, transfers, returns, special buy-ins:
• Negotiate returns with assigned vendors
• Keep excess, inactive and aged inventory at acceptable levels
• Maintain a constant relationship with the sales, engineering, operations, finance, and other departments to understand the demand forecasting needs
• Oversee monthly open order (shipping) status and collaborate to drive multidepartment actions (Finance, Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality, Shipping) to ensure open orders are actioned to booked orders
• Develop Standardized Operating Procedures inventory management
• Manage inventory within ERP
• Document daily deliveries and shipments to update inventory
• Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Freight & Logistics:

• Plan, direct, and manage activities related to inbound and outbound distribution, warehouse, and on Delivery operations.
• Define and manage all transportation vendor relationships, contract pricing and terms, and key performance indicators.
• Accountable for all transportation service categories including direct-to-customer fulfillment, drop ship, contracted dedicated courier services, inbound inventory
• Develop a network of transportation partners that effectively support key business initiatives and objectives
• Work cross functionally with sales team on company growth initiatives to ensure cost-effective and quality distribution is achieved for new geographic areas
• Streamline and optimize delivery and transportation processes to ensure efficiency
• Measure and review forecast accuracy of the replenishment system and understand areas of improvement and work with the team on actioning inventory opportunities
• Monitor and mitigate inbound risks and minimize charges.
• Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and reduce cost within the logistics process.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience within Logistics, Operations and/or Transportation
• Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in a degree within Supply Chain or equivalent business experience.
• Proven people leadership, teambuilding, and coaching skills to support growth and development
• Demonstrated relationship-building and communication skills through prior experience
• Understand and use financial reports to effectively manage the business
• Innovative thinker. Can streamline work processes, reduce costs, and improve operational excellence
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in implementing change
• Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to multitask

• High sense of urgency and consistently delivers
• Professional demeanour, ability to work with and influence at all levels internally and externally.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Outlook, , Word, PowerPoint), and ERP systems, such as Chempax would be an asset
