GSL are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs, social, emotional, and mental health challenges and traumas, and associated challenging behaviours.
As a SEN/Mental Health Learning Support Assistant, you will establish strong connections with students, gaining a profound understanding of their unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations. Whether it’s through one-on-one interactions, small group sessions, or classroom assistance, you will offer personalised guidance to help them navigate their educational journeys successfully. Beyond the conventional realm of academic support, you will serve as a foundation for emotional and social well-being, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment in which students are empowered, self-assured, and valued. Through your empathy, understanding, and nurturing presence, you will assist students in overcoming challenges and nurturing their growth, not just as learners, but as unique individuals. Your contributions will not only enrich the educational experiences of our students but also foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion, embodying the core values of our educational institution.
Some children/ young people may have endured challenging experiences during their childhood. As part of your role, you will be responsible for recognising their potential risks and needs and, when required, taking the appropriate actions to address them. A prevalent factor in the lives of numerous children and young individuals with special educational needs is the experience of marginalisation and disadvantage, often stemming from trauma, challenging family dynamics and limited educational achievements. Consequently, they encounter multiple obstacles and are more susceptible to unfavourable outcomes. Your role will play a pivotal part in delivering stability and empowering these children and young people with the resources they need to feel safe, confident, and capable of achieving success in life.
