The Opportunity

As a key member of the Finance team, the role of the Accountant is to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting specifically by supporting accounts payable, entry/processing of company payroll and maintaining the general ledger.

Your Impact

• Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles
• Maintain deposit log and process remote deposit of cheques received respective to the donation and Non-donation
• Support Accounts Payable function including enter AP, retainage aging, conduct bi-weekly check run
• Track, process employee expense reports and visa reports
• Process and manage PAD invoices and payments
• Set up, maintain project planning and construction contracts, POs, change orders in subcontract module
• Record, reconcile progressive invoices for contract and process holdback/retainage in accordance with the policies
• Reconciliation of POS for 13 retail stores
• Prepare and post journal entries for mortgage payments by homeowner
• Prepare and post required journal entry to reclass departments and GL at the end of the month
• Monthly reconciliation of various accounts including prepaids and deposits
• Maintained fixed assets schedule for acquisition, disposals, and amortization of fixed assets
• Assist in audit preparation
• Assist accounting team in month end
• Assist Senior Manager and Director with ad hoc projects and requests
• Enter and maintain new hire, termination, reimbursement, benefits, and donations in Dayforce
• Address payroll and finance related inquiries from employees
• Backfill for Accounts Payable Specialist and other Accountant
• Other duties as assigned from time to time

What You Bring

• University degree in accounting or commerce
• 2 – 5 years of work experience
• Pursuing the CPA designation is considered an asset
• Proven leadership and management skills in a team-based environment.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Suite, specifically within Excel
• Experience with Dayforce will be considered an asset
• Experience with construction accounting will be considered an asset
