Construction Manager/Site Supervisor
Hatchard Engineering Ltd. is looking to hire a construction manager who will contribute to the organization by helping to manage various aspect of construction projects. This individual will require excellent practical, technical and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
· Plan, organize, direct, and oversee construction projects from start to finish, according to schedule, specifications and budget
· Prepare construction schedules and milestones, monitor and report progress
· Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
· Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
· Direct and execute the purchase of building materials
· Assist with obtaining permits and licenses
· Implement and oversee safety protocols and programs
· Implement and oversee quality control programs
· On-site management of daily construction activities, including management of subcontractors.
· Have the ability to maintain a safe worksite.
Knowledge and Experience
· Post-secondary education in construction management, architecture, engineering (civil), or related field
· Proven working experience in construction management and understanding of all facets of the construction process relating to commercial and multi-family dwellings
· Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
· Priority on strong communication skills, ensuring open, accurate information sharing both internally and externally. Be fluent in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in French will be considered an asset.
· Soft skills; able to interact, as part of a team, with all types of clients and teammates; proactive and able to manage time well; able to build relationships.
· Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners, while maintaining an atmosphere of trust
· Familiarity with or experience working in the telecommunications industry a definite asset
· Highly proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, experience with MS Project would be beneficial
· Superior organization skills, with a strong attention to detail
