Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Looking for Financial Accountant at Toronto, ON Full Time

The financial accountant has primary responsibility over the financial accounting activities of the bank, key balance sheet categories , program reporting and will work closely with the Foundation and Research departments. The financial accountant is an important member of the general ledger team who work together to ensure the financial books and records of the hospital are maintained in accordance with accounting policies established by the Ministry of Health.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations;

Primary responsibility for all bank and deferred accounts;

Management of the City of Toronto & MCCCS budgets, reconciliations and all related reporting;

Preparation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analysis for management reporting;

Analyzing and coordinating a variety of financial data and reporting it in a clear and useful manner;

Assist with month end and year end closing processes;

Finance liaison/partner for assigned budget owners including Research & the Foundation areas.

Duties include:
maintaining financial information for assigned programs,

regular review and analysis of program financial statements,

partnering with program managers to identify and explain program variances,

assist budget owners with the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets,

provide financial advice and guidance,

resolve any issues budget owners may have regarding their financial reporting requirements;

Assist in the on-going maintenance of the Meditech Expanse GL and FA modules;

Assists in developing internal accounting controls and policy and procedure for accounting functions;

Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Accounting designation or working towards an accounting designation

Minimum 3-5 years with relevant practical experience

Independent, proactive and well organized with strong analytical skills

Ability to work collaboratively across programs and departments

Analytical, planning and organizational skills and the ability to identify problems and exercise sound judgement in recommending solutions

Excellent communications, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills

Teamwork and the ability to work additional hours if required

Flexible and able to balance multiple priorities

Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment

Strong knowledge of MS office applications
