The Job:
Title: Civil Estimator
This position will be working directly with the Earthworks Divisional Manager and the Chief Estimator, the Civil Estimator will conduct full package estimations, bids and budgets for all assigned construction projects while actively participating in pre-award meetings and assisting in business development and maintaining existing relationships.
Estimating duties include:
assisting with managing quote creation-utilizing the Quote Registry; Conversion Rates (projects quoted v. projects awarded, calculate, analysis of quote results (Award rate, variances); analysis and management of Final Award Results. (Profit per client, type and size of project)
working with the earthworks division manager to establish and communicate criteria for quotation selection and vendor section
working with the earthworks divisional manager to establish and maintain pricing matrix for estimating sheets
finding potential projects; receive and review invitations to tender, review posting boards (I.E; VRCA, BCbid etc.) maintain client contacts and visit sites of interest
produce quotes following the established quotation procedures: post project to team, obtain and review required documents (Specs, drawings etc.) request and select vendor quotes, complete takeoffs and labour estimates
Actively participate in Pre-award meetings
Actively participate in divisional crossover
Assist in the management of business partners (Find new and maintain existing relationships)

Employment Facts:
This work is full-time and permanent with the option to work from home 2-3 days a week. Hours of Work:
Our office team works Monday to Friday during the office hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm. Flexibility on hours based on job requirements is a must. The average working week is based on 40 hours.
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $110,000-150,000 annually. Wages are set based on experience and qualifications.
3 weeks of annual paid vacation time and 1 week of annual paid personal leave is provided for this position. Employee is also eligible for benefits and company profit sharing after their probation period.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have the following:
Civil engineering degree or equivalent (Or industry and position experience equivalent)
3-5 years of civil estimating experience – bulk excavations, culverts, and utility experience
Computer proficiency especially with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point) and Bluebeam.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of customer service
Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work
Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate, multi-task and complete work assignments within prescribed deadlines
Able to apply effective time management and self-management skills
Accounting/budget/job-costing reporting skills
Ability to read technical reports, construction documents and technical knowledge of industry components and their function
Knowledge of contract documents and specifications
Ability to understand, interpret, and navigate through Landscape, Civil, and Architectural drawings
