Job Mandate The HTS Systems Programmer will work on the analysis, design, and implementation of HTS software & tools. This includes interfacing with Azure using Microsoft Graph web services, implementing Power Apps and Office 365 extensions, along with Flutter / Dart applications & utilities, and third-party software & tools. Technical curiosity and comfort learning novel complex systems would be an asset, as would knowledge of Azure, Flutter, Dart, and Smalltalk in VisualWorks & GemStone. Job Details Major Responsibilities: • Working with the business analysts, define a long-term vision for business applications. • Use software best practices into the development process and tools. • Maintain a stable application environment, with well-defined business continuity processes. • Participate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. • Develop and test moderate to complex programs / modules according to specific business and design requirements in an efficient and accurate manner, to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations. • Lead application design sessions and code reviews / walkthroughs to ensure accurate business requirements to increase technical skills through knowledge transfer. Keep abreast of development technologies, both current and future. • Provide support and enhancements to existing production applications in a timely and accurate manner, to minimize outage time and increase the effectiveness of the business. • Provide support and maintenance of existing applications as required. Special Projects: • Participate in special projects as directed by software development lead. • Attend all meetings for special projects as required. Working Conditions: • Hybrid of remote work and office setting • Office setting – Open, collaborative office space (may vary by location) • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines • Reliable access to personal transportation is a requirement. • Must be willing to travel and have a valid passport Minimum Required Technical Skills / Qualifications Knowledge, Education, Training • University or college degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology) or equivalent technical training. • Minimum of 5 years experience Technical Skills • Strong working knowledge of relational databases (SQL), strong skill of PLSQL/ T-SQL. • Advanced Excel Skills (VB Macro and pivot), AD for user management. • Knowledge of programming principles and comfort with using common development platforms and languages (PowerShell, Python, Dart, Java, GIT, VSCode, Jenkins). • Testing skills, belief in and understanding of automated testing tools. • Object oriented design and programming background is an asset. • Experience in or understanding of an Agile environment would be an asset. Minimum Required Behavioural / Soft Skills Skills • Have a deep understand of the application technology. • Be able to communicate complex design ideas to developers and business users. • Possess strong software development and support skills. • Ability to learn and understand complex business domains. • Work well both independently and as part of a team. • Willingness to learn processes, frameworks, tools.
