Humber River Health (HRH) is a prominent healthcare facility in Canada, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, catering to a wide range of medical needs. It serves a diverse population of over 850,000 individuals residing in the northwest Greater Toronto Area. HRH operates 722 acute inpatient beds with 3,400 staff, approximately 700 physicians, and over 1,000 volunteers. HRH currently includes the Wilson site, a 656-bed full service acute care facility that opened in 2015, and the Finch and Church sites, known as the “Reactivation Care Centres” (RCCs). The RCCs represent a unique partnership among multiple hospitals in the GTA with a focus on high quality patient recovery. A 356-bed long-term care facility “Humber Meadows” has recently opened at the Finch Avenue site.

ANATOMIC PATHOLOGIST
Department and Program Overview
The Humber River Health Laboratory is an ISO 15189 Plus accredited Laboratory, with an annual workload of 26,000 surgical pathology specimens, 5200 cytology specimens, 270 bone marrow specimens and 750 flow cytometry samples. The department is currently staffed for nine full -time pathologists, plus some locum coverage.
Position Summary
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Full Time Anatomic Pathologist.
The successful candidate will provide general pathology services including, regular surgical and cytopathology service work, frozen section coverage, tumour board, occasional autopsy and on-call coverage.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must be a Royal College Fellow, with specialty certification in Pathology and be a member of, or eligible for membership with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario. Subspecialization and/or hematopathology training is considered an asset, but not required.
As a member of TAHSN, HRH provides placements for medical learners at all levels, including medical students, residents and fellows. The successful candidate should have an interest in education initiatives, including the teaching and supervision of medical students and residents. HRH has an expectation that all physicians apply for an academic appointment at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
