ssist the VP, Growth through identification and acquisition of target companies in line with Hydro One’s strategic plan and growth strategy. You will play a key role to assess and execute business-enhancing corporate transactions.
Specific Accountabilities
This includes supporting the VP, Growth by:
Obtaining and analyzing industry news, developments, and industry trends to provide strategic investment proposals that support Hydro One’s corporate transactions
Coordinating strategic projects; and assessing progress towards achieving strategic objectives
Leading the effort to analyze and track acquisition targets, including company profiles
Developing and maintaining complex financial models, business cases, sophisticated financial projections and using these financial analyses to make recommendations to management regarding decisions for material corporate initiatives and acquisition targets
Analyzing and interpreting financial information including financial filings and other reports which can be used by management for strategic decisions
Assisting with the management of financial and regulatory due diligence processes in the evaluation of potential opportunities
Playing an active role in the preparation of business cases and other materials including strategy updates for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
Playing an active role in the post closure monitoring of acquisitions including support for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors as needed
Acting as internal consultant and advisor for key strategic initiatives
Interacting effectively with internal business managers and external advisors and consultants
Contributing to special projects and analyses, as required
Recommending strategies, plans, position and program directions to resolve issues that arise in moving toward realization of the Hydro One acquisition strategy. Identifying and assessing opportunities for new business development which have the potential to further the goals for Hydro One in attaining its strategy and recommend those that merit further development.
Creating and continuously improving the analytical models used in support of the VP and team in developing and implementing the strategy.
Monitoring and assessing Hydro One’s progress with respect to achievement of strategic plans and related processes.
Supporting the VP in integrating corporate strategic issues and requirements within the business and in overseeing their consistent application in order to realize the overall Hydro One objectives and direction.

Executing approved programs/studies resulting from the above recommendations
Coordinating project assignments and studies across Hydro One as approved by the VP
Developing models to support scenario planning studies
Assessing strategic options against future scenarios, including assessing risks and developing alternative plans for mitigating these risks
Managerial Accountabilities – Direct output
Managing the division and achieve the approved programs and results through accountability for the outputs of others
Setting the appropriate context for subordinates (i.e. Corporate and, Hydro One strategies and policies, accountabilities, tasks, budget and programs, compliance and performance targets, expectations for continuous improvement, etc.)
Knowing and ensuring own and subordinates’ compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and all policies and procedures and generally accepted practices relating to the group’s work
Establishing a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views of conditions and potential changes affecting their work and continuous improvement opportunities
Ensuring subordinates are able and willing to produce the desired output and that subordinate managers are continually improving the processes for achieving the outputs
Conducting personal effectiveness reviews of subordinate managers/specialists to build relationships and trust and improve effectiveness
Mentor and counsel subordinates. Providing leadership to subordinates, so that they collaborate competently, and with full commitment, with VP and with each other in pursuing the goals set
Providing a safe and healthy work environment
Selection Criteria
6+ years of progressively senior work experience (preferred)
An undergraduate degree in finance, commerce, engineering, or other quantitative discipline
Accounting designation, CFA or equivalent considered an asset
Analytical and quantitative skill set including the ability to understand, develop and analyze complex financial and strategic models
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Ability to work within a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic team environment and ability to deliver timely results
Ability to work collaboratively across business units
Understanding of financial statements and capital markets
Strong work ethic and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior work experience in Electricity Industry, investment banking, corporate development, strategy consulting or private equity considered an asset
