Job Description
IBI is searching for an Architectural Technologist to join our growing Calgary Architectural Practice. This role will expose you to working drawings ranging from mixed use, commercial, and residential high-rise buildings. You will be a part of the team that will support with design development, working drawings and detailing. The successful candidate will offer a robust portfolio of details and construction documents showing an array of projects and a holistic understanding of the design process. As the successful candidate, you will be an out-of-the-box thinker with a talent for developing creative detailing solutions.

Our teams are currently working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic and will be for the foreseeable future. We are following the provincial procedures before considering returning to the office. On a weekly basis, managers have touch base meetings with their teams to discuss the progress of projects or any issues that they have encountered. Most of the things you’ll work on:
Prepare design and working drawings for a variety of projects in Revit
Prepare documents through Design Development, Building Permit and Tender
Assist with feasibility studies
Work closely with the Project Architect and the project team
Coordinate with other architectural and engineering disciplines as well as external consultants to prepare high quality coordinated documents
Work on multiple projects at the same time
Keep up to date on construction practices, products, codes, and technologies
Qualifications
You’ll need to have:
Degree in Architecture or a Diploma in Architectural Technology
Minimum of 3 years of architectural experience in an architectural firm
Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
MUST have hands-on experience and proficiency with Revit; should have good AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software knowledge and experience
Ability to perform Building Code Reviews
Strong ability to meet tight project deadlines
Great critical thinking skills with the ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
