Job Description
IBI Group’s Vancouver office is in search of an Project Manager (Architecture) to join our collaborative and innovative mixed-use/multi-family high-rise residential design team. Our multi-disciplinary team collaborates with groups across the globe to design and manager Multi-Family/Mixed-Use High Rise Residential in the Metro Vancouver Area.
Our teams are currently working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic and will be for the foreseeable future. We are following the provincial procedures before considering returning to the office. On a weekly basis, managers have touch base meetings with their teams to discuss the progress of projects or any issues that they have encountered. Most of the things you’ll work on:
Manage multiple project resources from cross-functional teams, as well as interfacing with project leaders, technology specialists, professional staff, vendors and consultants
Lead team on a collection of complex small projects, medium size projects or large projects
Lead the process to identify and assess potential work opportunities whether it be add-on work or new
Lead the process to coordinate the opportunity response (example: RFP), prepares proposals, submissions and client presentations
Coordinate the design, construction and management of projects, including liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and consultants
Define and decide objectives related to the project or segment of a large project from a cost, schedule, technical and quality perspective
Provide project reporting and ad-hoc analysis, and presents project status and issues requiring attention by senior management
Identify opportunities for process improvements and work to streamline and enhance existing procedures
Coordinate architectural and project design
Function as the project leader and primary coordinator between multiple disciplines
Apply knowledge of building codes and zoning bylaws
Apply understanding of design philosophy of projects
Prepare and coordinate detailed design and construction documents, review of working drawings prepared by in-house staff or outside consultants
Resolve technical and design issues within the project scope and escalate as needed to ensure project objectives are met
Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews, processes submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI
Contribute to the delivery of projects to meet client expectations
Qualifications
You’ll Need to Have:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Architecture required
Must be registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of British Columbia
Minimum 10 years of related experience
Preference will be given to applicants with high rise residential architecture experience
LEED accredited professional is preferred
Strong knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards
Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively
Ability to apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity
Ability to oversee development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD)
Strong leadership skills and an ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Strong understanding of project financials
