Your Role and Responsibilities

At IBM Payments Center (IPC), we are looking for Software Engineer Intern for 8-12 months work term commencing January 2023. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and return to full-time studies upon completion of the work term. This position resides in Toronto, Ontario OR Montreal, Quebec.

At IBM Payments Centre, our payment and cash management software empower businesses and financial institutions to modernize payment processing and reduce their operational costs.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

• Participate in the development of payment and cash management products and ensure their evolution in accordance with established quotes
• Contribute to the corrective and preventive maintenance of applications while respecting incident management processes
• Measure and optimize application performance
• Interact with the different teams of the company throughout the development lifecycle
• Write effective automated tests to ensure the stability of the application
• Participate in solutioning and designing applications as part of backlog grooming session

• Must be eligible to work 8 or 12 months work term starting January 2023.
• Ability to work well within a team
• Effective OO, structured and micro services coding and unit testing skills
• Experience in writing SQL queries
• Willingness to learn new development and deployment techniques
• A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks

• Experience writing to OpenAPI specifications
• Experience in coding defensively against OWASP Top 10 common vulnerabilities
• Experience in deploying serverless applications in containers or as AWS Lambda functions
• Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
