Overall Purpose
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of group activity wherein the APM provides field and office support to expedite achieving goals and objectives of each project assignment. The APM may be responsible for various phases or aspects of a project including but not limited to, planning, organizing and customer interaction to achieve successful project completion with constraints on time, cost, performance, and customer needs.
The APM assists the Project Manager with client management, customer service and customer communication.
The APM must provide proof of ability to collect, analyze, evaluate and report on technical data collected in the field.
Job Responsibilities
Assure that all equipment, documents, and services are properly delivered to the customer for acceptance and use within the contractual schedule and costs.
Assure that invoices are submitted in accordance with contractual terms.
Identify any potential areas of exposure to project schedules, milestones, and subcontractor responsibilities.
Conduct frequent, regular project evaluation and review meetings to identify current and future problems and initiate actions for their resolution.
Prepare and submit weekly or monthly progress reports to management, and to customer if required.
Ensure that all required steps are taken to present adequately all project deliverable items to the customer for acceptance and that project activities are closed out in an efficient manner.
Flexibility to work across multiple project locations.
Manage, assist, and supplement field operations.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Construction Management, or equivalent work experience required
Good verbal and written communication skills are required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to build relationships and work well across functions is a plus
Demonstrates superior judgment and communicates a “can do” attitude and positive outlook, minimizing negative behaviors
Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
Willingness to travel
Demonstrates a strong customer orientation
Demonstrates the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while remaining focused
Maintains direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work
