Position Summary
IDL is currently accepting resumes for Traffic Control Supervisors to join our Terrace construction team. As a traffic control supervisor, you oversee the safe and efficient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on construction sites, roadways, or other public areas. You are in charge of designing or setting up and maintaining temporary traffic control in a work zone.
Responsibilities
Planning and implementing traffic control plans: This involves determining the best traffic routing, using signs, signals, and barriers to direct traffic, and supervising the placement and maintenance of traffic control devices.
Monitoring traffic flow: The traffic control supervisor is responsible for continuously monitoring the flow of traffic and making any necessary adjustments to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
Training and supervising workers: The supervisor is responsible for training traffic control workers on the proper use of traffic control devices and techniques, and overseeing their work to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Maintaining equipment: The traffic control supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all traffic control equipment is in good working condition and readily available when needed.
Coordinating with other stakeholders: The traffic control supervisor must coordinate with other departments and agencies, such as police and public works, to ensure that all traffic control plans are in compliance with regulations and laws.
Ensuring safety: The traffic control supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety of workers, the public, and equipment on the job site. This includes monitoring weather conditions and making adjustments to traffic control plans as necessary.
Signalling operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
Other construction-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years experience in traffic control
Minimum of three years experience in construction
BCCSA Traffic Control Certification
Ability to effectively communicate with workers, other supervisors, and the public to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
Ability to manage and motivate a team of workers, ensuring that all traffic control protocols are followed correctly.
Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
Desire to learn and commit to working safely and complying with company health and safety policies
