Role Description:
The Business Analyst ll, Data & Reporting leads the assessment of client needs in an effort to align business initiatives with information technology solutions.
The Business Analyst, Data & Reporting will provide expertise in the areas of requirements definition, business process analysis and design, functional design, configuration, implementation, reporting, testing, training and documentation to deliver enterprise solutions to the university community, with a focus on data analysis and delivery.
Business Analyst (Data Warehouse/Migration & Reporting) – Permanent position in Vancouver (hybrid model):
Responsibilities:
Assignments include but not limited to work on enterprise systems such as the Student Information System (SIS), HR, Finance, e-Payment, etc.
Ensures solutions are consistent with the overall technical and business architecture of the university and complies with IT and university policies, as well as governmental legislation and other external entities compliancy requirements on security, privacy, and accessibility.
Analyze and document data domains and associated reporting requirements to inform the scope and architecture of the transactional or the data platform.
Provide insights to data modelers to ensure requirements are covered by the underlying data model.
Participates in the design of ETL source-to-target mapping specifications.
Gather report requirements, design and implement regular reports in transactional or analytical platforms
Profile and convert data using a variety of resources, including spreadsheets, reports and SQL for large volumes
Lead stakeholder requirements gathering and review sessions and obtain sign-offs as required.
Requirements:
6+ years of BA or Data Analyst experiences in Reporting, and/or Data Warehouse and/or Data Migration projects that can implement:
At least 6 years of experience in Data projects/work (Excel and MS Access would not count for that)
Data mapping exp (from the source system to DATA WAREHOUSE, and within DATA WAREHOUSE), to understand and capture report requirements from SMEs or business users,
Power BI reporting experience.
Strong SQL, understanding data and related business processes (and/or vice versa).
Experience in at least one of the following areas of IT is required: data warehouse development, software development, ERP implementation, infrastructure, and ITIL/ITSM.
Nice-to-have:
Experience with prior data warehouse / BI initiatives is an asset.
Experience with classical reporting tools (Crystal Reports, etc.) and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is an asset.
