Network Software Engineer (Gaming) – Permanent position in Vancouver (100% remote):
On behalf of our client in Vancouver, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Network Software Engineer with our client for a permanent opportunity.
Role Description:
You will be part of a new game team that will join forces with our Sony partners who will bring this game to the market. In this role you will help build and maintain a modular network engine supporting multiple platforms, develop low-level network features, and help evolve our networking tech stack.
Responsibilities:
- Extend networking layer support for our Unreal based engine.
- Work with modern console APIs for invites, presence, user management, etc.
- Write code for consoles that communicates with our backend servers.
- Write server-side code for user/inventory/currency management.
- Work closely with internal and external engineering teams to integrate backend services.
- Monitor and respond to issues in our live environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in entire game production process from pre-pro to postproduction.
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience working on network-oriented gameplay engineering for PC and/or console with a solid understanding of game networking systems and technologies.
- Excellent optimization and debugging skills in networking and distributed systems.
- Strong C++ skills.
- Ability to quickly and effectively understand externally developed code.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting external integration of internally developed code.
- Highly organized and self-motivated.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in Unreal 4 / 5.
- Experience in cross platform development.
- Experience in live game services.
- Experience with online game platform APIs, such as PSN, Steam, Epic.
- Knowledge of Rust.
