We design, develop, and host data rich, full featured, high traffic web and mobile applications for financial institutions, brokerages, and media clients around the world. We are looking to pay around $90,000 – $100,000 CAD base salary for this role.

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to a cross-functional agile team developing and maintaining products providing value-added backend vendor data to our clients and feature teams.
• Produce high quality SQL designs and code that are performant, intuitive, testable, and secure.
• Dive into data with the desire to understand it and it’s relationship to other data in our systems. You like data and want to ensure it is represented correctly.
• Develop code for ingestion of vendor data feeds and work with vendors when questions arise about the data.
• Collaborate with our financial analysts and data specialists to understand the data and determine the best methods for adding value.
• Learn about new technologies and work with the team to integrate new solutions into our technical stack.
• Mentor and learn from developers of all levels, continually building your own skill sets and capabilities in order to help teams achieve their sprint and project goals
• Partner with our amazing feature teams to bring our client’s vision to reality

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of development for relational database applications. You are a proven expert.
• Ability to design and develop relational database schemas knowing how to create normalized entities and knowing when it is appropriate to denormalize
• Able to evaluate what indexes are needed to support fast performing queries
• Developer of maintainable, testable, and performant stored procedures
• Demonstrated skills with performance analysis and tuning using query analyser; you can identify table scans, and have ideas about how to fix key lookups
• Interested in learning about newly supported features in SQL2019 and how they can fit into our best practices.
• Experience with XML and/or JSON.
• A passion to understand our data and how it’s represented
• Applicable experience using the following technologies and skills:
• Transact-SQL, SSIS
• SQL Query plan analysis
• Centralized version control system like Git or Subversion
• C# or Java
• Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated expertise handling large data sets in a fast transactional environment
• Experience working in an Agile Development environment
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

The following experience is encouraged:

• Unit test development using using frameworks like J-meter
• Solar Winds Ignite
• SQL Enlight
• AWS and/or AZURE
• High level understanding of containerization
• Understanding of RESTful APIs with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications using Node.js
• Experience using tools such as GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Artifactory, Consul, Kibana, Grifana, and Docker
• Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing
• Understanding of test driven development
• Knowledge of Financial domain
