IMS is a vehicle and driving data business with a passion for making driving Safer, Smarter, and Fairer for all.
Our award-winning solutions help insurers, mobility operators and governments drive value out of connected vehicle data. We deliver tangible results for our customers, and great experiences for their end-users by making driving safer and more economical. And where accidents do happen our solutions enable fairer outcomes for everyone.
We are proud to say our work makes a difference in the world by impacting driver behaviour. You will be working on the foundations of something great, with the opportunity to develop yourself with support from us.
You, as a Software Engineer, will be a self starter, willing to learn and a strong engineer in both code and test areas.
What will I be doing?
You will have a wide and varied role, but some of the most important responsibilities are;
– Design, develop, test, implement and deploy new software, and maintain existing software with a focus on quality, efficient and scalability.
– Work as part of a team to deliver valuable functionality within forecasted timescales to the Definition of Done.
– Develop your own skills, with the full and complete support of the team, your manager and the company.
– Engage in team meetings and knowledge transfer sessions, to suggest improvements, provide feedback and share expertise.
– Prioritise iterative approaches to your own and team work.
– Assist the PO with preparation of the backlog and alignment of work to the Definition of Ready.
– Commit to upskilling, with the company’s support, in disciplines outside of development (Test/DevOps/Infrastructure) where your valuable skills would increase the team’s ability to deliver value.
– Provide feedback and mentor Associate Software Engineers to encourage understanding and support best practice.
We know you’ll have a wide range of skills and experience, but we think the most important are;
– Recent, working experience of using Java in a Software Engineering role, focused on value delivery
– Solid understanding of working in Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and of the engineer’s role in an agile team.
– Previous experience and understanding of the importance of contributing to requirements reviews with engineering teams and other stakeholders.
– Confident analytical skills, high level of initiative and self-sufficiency
– Strong inter-personal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate test efforts and contribute to technical reviews/product reviews.
– Exposure to BDD or TDD, pair programming and DevOps.
– Cloud technology experience would benefit you in this space – AWS or Azure.
Benefits
– Generous PTO, your birthday off, and a holiday buy/sell scheme to really make the most of your time off!
– Health, vision and dental benefits that start on day 1!
– RRSP match
– Wellness programmes
– Funded training and dedicated training platforms, plus twice yearly development reviews for you to drive your own learning and tell us how we can support you! You also have the opportunity to learn and master new skills in a telematics environment.
– Peer-to-peer recognition platforms, where you can recognise and be recognised for outstanding work. You can save up points to redeem against a wise catalogue of rewards!
– Hybrid working policies and a ‘Work From Anywhere’ policy that allows you to work from anywhere in the world for 30 days a year!
We’d love to hear from you if you think you might be a great fit for this role!
